Research Communication

While Sarah’s educational and work background was initially in media arts and film production, she then went into teaching university-level media arts (applied mostly to sustainability) and has expanded into using film in participatory research and knowledge translation mainly related to sustainability and climate change, with a particular focus on water justice, and intersections with health, especially health equity. She has worked a lot with ways to innovate around designing and facilitating film-based approaches, and then editing the audiovisual data into films aimed mostly as advocacy tools. Below are a few examples.

As well as capturing footage from numerous workshops, Sarah conducted interviews with diverse stakeholders, including community members, government officials and academics. Throughout the film making process, Sarah displayed the utmost efficiency and professionalism, and created a powerful film that our organization has proudly shared on numerous platforms in South Africa and internationally.
